This week’s Fan of the Week is my good friend Kevin “Berg” Rosenberg. Even though Kevin graduated from Hofstra, he became a huge supporters of UMass Hoops after Chaz Williams transferred to UMass from the Hof. It also doesn’t hurt that Kevin’s younger brother Brian is a current UMass student and was even fan of the week way back in 2014.
Who is your favorite UMass Basketball player?
I obviously have to go with Seth Berger for this one. There is an unbreakable bond that exists between guys with ‘Berg’ last names. I’m sure we’ve heard all the same jokes and bad nicknames: Berg, Berger, iceberg, Bergermeister Meisterberger, the hamburgler. You name it, we’ve probably heard it. Its great to see a fellow Berg in the spotlight to be a role model for all the young Bergs of the world! #berglivesmatter #bergpride
What is your favorite UMass Basketball moment?
I’m just here so I don’t get fined.
(interviewer’s note: somehow this joke is still funny)
McDonalds has decided to increase it’s marketing efforts in Western Massachusetts and has hired you to design a menu item sponsored by the UMass Minutemen (could feature a player, the whole team, coach Kellogg, whatever you want. What would your menu item be called and what would this tasty creation consist of?
Clearly the burger would be called the “Slamherst Double Cheese-Berger”, for obvious reasons. This mouth watering creation starts off with two all beef patties and is piled high with bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, and fried onion strings all on top of a pretzel bun. The two beef patties represent Seth’s ability to trap defenders on the double team and the fried onion strings are clearly a nod to his sweet jump shot. When he hits that three it goes ‘sizzle’. As for the bacon, bleu cheese, and pretzel bun…that’s just delicious. If McDonalds releases this new berger, they might be giving Antonio’s a run for their money.
