A few weeks ago I posted an NBA Draft preview featuring the brightest stars in the Atlantic 10 and I know you have all been anxious with anticipation for an update. Well, you don’t have to wait any longer because here it is.
Surpise! Not a single Atlantic 10 player was drafted! All the hype about Juvonte Reddic was not realized and Ronald Roberts, a consensus sleeper pick was not on any GM’s list.
The only good news coming post draft is that a few players did make a summer league squad, which can be a stepping stone to making an NBA roster.
Langston Galloway suited up for the Knicks, Halil Kanacevic played for the Denver Nuggets and Ronald Roberts made the 76ers team. Of the three, Roberts had the most impressive showing, averaging around 10 points per game across five games in the Orlando Summer League while Galloway and Kanacevic were unimpressive in their sole games playing in the Vegas Summer League. At this point it looks likely that Roberts will make a D League team. He played well in the Summer League and has also impressed scouts with his athleticism. As for the rest of the Atlantic 10 hopefuls, Europe is looking like the most likely option at this point.
For Chaz Williams and Raphiael Putney, everything is still up in the air. Chaz failed to make a summer league team and there has been no news of possible professional moves for him. His twitter conversation with former UMBR Fan of the Week, Stu confirms that he is still waiting for a camp invite.
@TherealstuStu patiently waiting!
