Stop me if you’ve heard this before. The Minutemen jump out to a 14 point lead 2 minutes into the game only to lose in spectacular fashion. In a repeat of the Tulane game, UMass saw their early two touchdown lead ultimately end in a 51-31 defeat at the hands of the Troy Trojans.
Despite their irrelevance, Troy is actually a very good team with their only loss coming at Clemson in a one score game. After digging themselves an early 14 point hole almost immediately, the Trojans took the lead towards the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back. Despite the offense looking good over the past few weeks, the Minutemen’s defense keeps taking a beating. Injuries continue to plague the defense and opposing teams are having no problems putting up 30+ points a game. With only 2 games remaining in the season (bye week, @BYU, @ Hawaii), UMass will have to play their most complete games of the year if they want to salvage another win or two.
Chalk up another successful field goal for the suddenly-redeeming-himself Logan Laurent. Things are looking up!
There is nothing fun anymore.
